What is Kovar Plate?
Kovar plate is a vacuum-melted alloy made from nickel, iron and cobalt. It’s a low-expansion material designed to match the thermal expansion of glass. We offer Kovar alloy plates in thicknesses ranging from 0.1 mm to 50 mm and widths up to 1000 mm. The plates meet exact size and tolerance standards. They can be cut, sheared, or machined to suit different technical requirements. Kovar alloy is characterized by high dimensional stability, consistent bonding with glass, and minimal thermal expansion from room temperature to about 400°C. These characteristics find it ideal for uses in sealed parts under heat and vacuum conditions. Kovar can be found in hermetic sealing, sensor cases, light bulbs, CRTs, and semiconductor packaging.
