What Are X20CrMo13 Strips?

The X20CrMo13 stainless steel strip is a martensitic stainless steel grade with high hardness after heat treatment and moderate corrosion resistance in mildly aggressive environments. This grade has a DIN designation of 1.4028 and provides tensile strength in excess of 700 MPa in the annealed condition, which can be increased to 1,100 MPa and above by quenching and tempering. The chromium content provides a passive oxide layer, which resists oxidation up to about 450°C.


The molybdenum addition strengthens the matrix and improves wear resistance at elevated temperatures. Strips in this grade are suitable for high-stress, wear intensive applications where the austenitic grades would deform too easily and the carbon steels would corrode under service conditions.
